Zudi Longchar-The wonder Karate Kid    Wednesday, 25 June 2008

  • ZUDI LONGCHAR, PRIDE OF OUR SCHOOL

He is a “Whiz Karate Kid”. At fourteen what he has achieved seems to be mere dream for others. He has proved that age is no bar in sports and games. He has also proved that despite physical constitutional disadvantage, we Nagas can excel in many fields of sport. At this tender age he is awarded Black-Belt by virtue of his win in Brown-Black sparring and he also went on to win the Gold medal in 12th National Karate Championship held in Karimnagar, Andhra Pradesh. It is to be mentioned that his inspiration is his father, Mr.Alem Longchar, who himself is a martial arts enthusiast and an Executive member of the Karate-Do Association. He also got the opportunity to represent the country in an international championship, but the cold approach of the Government of Nagaland and lack of sponsors split water on his hope. He is still young and has miles to go to discover the real essence of this sport.

Given below are some of the championships in which Zudi won Gold Medals:

1. 3rd All North-East Shaolin Kung-fu Martial Arts Open Championship held at Dimapur in Oct.2001 under 17-20Kg, Category.

2.  New Kung-fu Martial Arts Open at Mokokchung in Oct, 2002 in 20-25 kg.

3.  3rd State level semi-contact Karate championship in Dimapur on Dec. 2002

4.  1st Nagaland State Budo-kan Karate open Championship in Dimapur in Dec. 2003.

5.  The 1st WKL Asian open kick-boxing cup 2004, Indira Gandhi Stadium New Delhi on june 2004 in 21-25Kg

6.  12th National Contact-Karate Championship, Nov. 2004 at Okinawa school of Karate, Karimnagar Andhra Pradesh.

>     Hats off to the management for the importance invested on sports. That should help students build up their future according to their taste and talent and not according to "the law of running a bolus down students' throat" (i mean books and only books).
